DutchAudioClassics started in 2007 from a strong interest in digital audio from the early days of the Compact Disc. What began as collecting information about Philips and Marantz gradually grew into a website dedicated to vintage digital audio equipment.
On this site, you will find technical specifications, photographs, original brochures, background stories and explanations about the development of the Philips Compact Disc Digital Audio System. Not only the products themselves are important, but also the story behind them. How were they developed? Which technology was used? And what made these players so special in their time?
Over the years, I have collected a large amount of original documentation. This includes factory publications, technical documents and articles from that period. I have also been in contact with former Philips developers. This allows me to share information that is not easily found elsewhere.
In addition, I have collected several Philips and Marantz devices myself, such as the Philips LHH2000, Philips LHH1000 and the Marantz Project D1. Having these units in my own collection allows me to study them in detail and document their design, construction and technical choices more accurately.
